Newsletter N°26 - July 2008

:: Editorial ::

As announced in our last newsletter in April, we have launched our new range of interlocking products.

Although all of the parameters seem to have been taken care of, and the product samples tested and confirmed, any new product launch is at the mercy of a last-minute event. As you know, an event happened during the launch which could have altered the safety function of certain locks under very specific locking conditions. This event was not detected during the different trials and tests carried out by either our partners or our external laboratories.

Since we’re always very concerned about operator safety during locking operations, we immediately  decided to postpone the market launch of the two products lines concerned.

Due to our commitment to quality and our deontological rules regarding safety, we preferred a short delay in the launch of these products – just enough for our teams to solve the problem and to carry out the necessary validation tests – rather than risking someone’s life, even if the probability of this happening was very low.

This has of course led to a few small hitches and longer delivery times because we had to reintroduce older products to continue supplying our customers. We are well aware of the problems such last-minute changes might have caused, but these changes had one priority: our common safety commitment.

I want to thank you sincerely once again for your support and understanding.

At the time of writing this newsletter, the whole of the new product range is available and our assembly structure in Tunisia has been strengthened to be able to deliver the large number of orders we have received.

Everything has been done to ensure that things will be back to normal in September.

The whole HF Securité team in France and Tunisia hopes you enjoy your holidays and looks forward to speaking to you again from the morning of the 25 August.

Kind Regards,

In the energy field the renewable energies are booming, particularly the wind sector.

In this sector, the windmills manufacturers have implemented interlocking systems in order to guarantee the operators security during the maintenance operations  as well as the validation of the electrical setting up.

The  electrical energy production and distribution interfaces are provided by switchgears manufacturers with whom we have been working for several decades. For this reason the windmills manufacturers have asked HF Security to developp the necessary  locking systems for their own devices.

The danish VESTAS company and HF Securité have thus developped together a complete interlocking set  allowing us to propose a complete service  from locks to holders and fixation means, which enable an homogeneous  locking setting up from one windmill to another one, whatever company is in charge of the electrical setting up.

This set is now part of the VESTAS specification sheet. For this reason  we have received a complete order from the spanish company Ormazabal concerning a wind project : we will supply the usual  locks needed for the middle voltage switchgears as well as the the sets for the complete equipment of the windmills.

EFACEC will supply the energy plant for the whole of the new Jerusalem underground network, in a contract worth more than 2.6 million euros.

The contract was recently signed with the « Jerusalem City Pass » consortium, which is responsible for constructing and managing the network.  Work is due to start on the underground in 2008 and will initially create 23 substations over 13.4 km, between Pisgat Ze/ev and Monte Herzl.

EFACEC will be responsible for supplying AC and DC equipment (MV switchgear, rectifiers and DC devices) which will be fitted in the future traction substations.

With this contract, Jerusalem is joining other cities like Porto, Barcelona, Tenerife, Lisbon, Manila, Sao Paulo and Bursa, whose underground and light railway networks include solutions developed by EFACEC.

A longstanding client of our company, EFACEC has entrusted us with supplying the interlocking systems for this new underground network.
